what did you put in here, a hippopotamus?

After a very long day at work today, I knew I was in no shape or mood to cook. And Sarah certainly wasn't, having been dealing with los perros locos. So I called in an order to Pop's Back Door. Which is the takeout/delivery pizza place associated w/ Pop's Restaurant. We've enjoyed the pizzas at Pop's and friends had recommended Back Door but we hadn't gotten around to trying it. Really excellent. We had the smoked chicken pizza and the mushroom lovers pizza. I'd rate the pizza right up with Rockwood. And even though they messed up my order, they handled it about as well as you could want. They caught the mistake, remade the correct pizza, gave me a Coke to drink while I was waiting and threw in the mistake pizza for free. So now I have lunch for tomorrow (and Wednesday probably). Definitely check them out if you're local.

Man, that's a legit way to run a restaurant.

Last week in Denver I was served a Diet Coke that tasted like -- I swear to you -- moldy cheese and/or my idea of dishwater. I sputtered and gasped. Asked for a new Diet Coke and directions to the restroom where I could rinse and spit and rinse and spit.

For my troubles, pretty much nothing.

Mmm.. Pizza. My favorite bits for some reason are usually the second or third bite, and then the crust with just a bit of the toppings along the edge.

Wow, that's bad. Was it a can or fountain drink?
The guys at Pop's Backdoor could not have been nicer. As an added plus, if you have to hang around the counter for a while you get to enjoy the aroma coming from the wood burning oven.

It was probably past its expiration date (Warning- Science Content) after about 1 year at room temperature, or less if it is hotter, aspartame breaks down and loses its sweetness.
Moldy cheese or "dishwater" is a pretty good description of unsweetened Diet Coke.
Speaking of things that taste like what you think some horrible substance, that you never would actually taste, taste like; this brings to mind the food show where the host (the Frugal Gourmet if I remember correctly) said that Chinese rice wine tasted like benzene.

i can't believe it's not benzene!!
