Some follow-up on my post from the other day as it turns out that, apparently, that guy who said he invented email is doing a bit more than just glory hogging. Words like "fraud" and "loon" and "asshole" start showing up. So I guest the WaPo ombudsman was right that a certain amount of fault does go back to Ayyadurai. You'd like to think that the press should do a better job catching stuff like that but a really talented and/or committed bullshit artist can get a pretty long run sometimes. On a completely unrelated note, Chelsea (in the Premier League) sacked their manager last weekend. They'd spent millions to get Villas-Boas away from Porto. And now he's gone. So I mostly get my futbol news from the Guardian and there's been a lot of talk in there about who are likely replacements and two of the names they keep bringing up are José Mourinho (former Chelsea mgr and now at Real Madrid) and Pep Guardiola (Barca). And my first reaction was: that's crazy talk. I mean, I know that Premier League teams have a lot of money and obviously the futbol they're playing is top level -- a lot of the world's best players are there. But not all of them. And while it's maybe not competitive across the board, you can't fault the top of la Liga. So I finally had a chance to check for a non-UK perspective on the question of who should be the new Chelsea manager. As I thought: crazy talk.
