On slashfood today, there's a story about low-carb potatoes. But their link only goes to something which is obviously just a re-worded press release passing as news (I know... I know... making it different from most major media how?) A bit o' googling later, I got to the company site for the potatoes in question. I dunno. Maybe it is a new breakthru in crop science. But the way it's written they could just be saying that by some test or metric their potatoes have lower carbs than others. Hard to tell. The site's a mess anyway.
Like all aging hipsters, I maintain a deep love for Chuck Taylor All-Stars. I'm glad they're still around. But they are now owned by evil insect overlords (aka Nike). If you have qualms about, y'know, the whole sweatshop thing (I'm not usually prone to qualms but I might feel one coming on), here's an alternative: No Sweat. Note: I yoinked this link from Wil Wheaton. You're on the internets, so of course you've known about WWdN and the now long-term interim site WWdN: IX. Probably much longer than I have. And he hardly needs a plug from me. But it's good stuff. Yes indeedy.
My first favorite album of the year: LDA v. the Lunatics by Los de Abajo. Here's a press release. Here's a review.
