I keep missing your show, but as I'm here I just want to say that I just heard a really excellent show on the BBC World Service about East African hip-hop. And now I know that Tanzanian hip-hop is both more commercial and more cerebral, but Kenyan hip-hop has better beats. At least according to the Kenyan guy who produced the show. So there you go.

"Mauvaises nouvelles des etoiles"

1. R!: i just cut 'n paste from the XDU top 100 so take it up with music directors
2. BWV: is there any way to listen to that story online? most of the buzz i've caught has been on Senegalese hiphop. i'll have to check the 2 African rap comps at XDU next time and see if there's anything from Kenya. I know at least one of my fave tracks from the Rough Guide is from Tanzania

Here you go. It may only be up for a week. It's really worth a listen - there seem to be big Kenyan and Tanzanian rap scenes.
