Hey, I noticed something tonight. I was watching the first part of Slacker (I only watched the beginning cos I'd recorded it when it ran on Trio last month and the commercial interruptions were just too annoying) and the opening seemed familiar. So I popped in the DVD of Waking Life and 2nd scene there, of Wiley on the train looking out the window, echoes the opening shot in Slacker, of Linklater on the bus looking out the window. Just something I thought was kinda cool. It's been so long since I've seen Slacker that I didn't notice the similarity any of the times I've watched Waking Life. Which is one of my fave movies evah. Not surprisingly the official site seems to have gone offline (i couldn't even find a google cache)
I think I heard that Slacker is out on DVD now. I probably need to pick that up at some point.
NO FUCKING WAY. slacker is *my* favorite movie evah. it has not been out on dvd since the introduction of dvd!
there is actually an entire assload of allusions to "slacker" in "waking life." it's been so long since i've seen the latter, that i can't recall specifics off hand, but i'm sure they are there....

(do not doubt my words...)
well, dazed and confused is one of my fave movies evah. can i join the party? :)
i loved waking life, but it's all about death so it gives me the wiggins and that makes me not want to watch it again.
did y'all know that wiley wiggins is a famous blogger now? weevil.com i think. somewhere on there he's got photos from a dazed and confused reuinion.
I think people connect deeply with one of those three movies depending on what their teens/early 20s were like. My high school years were nothing like Dazed and Confused so the movie doesn't resonate for me nearly as well as Waking Life or especially Slacker. Some of the segments in Slacker remind me *so* much of me and my friends in college, it's almost scary.
My high school was much like Dazed and Confused but I liked Slacker better anyway.
And I'm trying to imagine what a high school that resembled Waking Life would be like!
Anybody seen the Before Sunrise sequel yet?
(P.S. I always have the damnedest time not mixing up Before Sunrise and From Dusk Till Dawn, which would be a pretty funny pair of movies to put in a blender if you think about it.)
Never fear, the Waking Life site is still to be found at the Internet Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://wakinglifemovie.com/
y'know it's probably gonna take me the rest of the month to recover from that Before Sunrise/Dusk Til Dawn crossover image... mean motorscooters, indeed
